Robert What is good design?

Good design was to be anchored in the minds of the people. Max Bill (Ulm School of Design) coined the term in 1949 for a traveling exhibition by the Schweizerischer Werkbund. Subjective taste was replaced by strict, supposedly objective criteria.

How to archive quality back links: Lesson 1
comment 3 Comments Written by Robert on April 9, 2008 – 6:21 pm

These days a quite hard to archive quality backlinks for your website. There are a lot of things I did not know in the last years… :(

If in 2005 was enough to invest $1000 each month to archive a few hundreds back links now Google (as you may already know) developed a new way to fight against link purchasing. Now, Google will penalize you if you buy links. Ok, we know that. So, rule #1:

Don’t sell/buy links.

I am thinking to an issue. Let’s say that smb. creates a website. A new website. There are a lot of website templates, web design companies, cheap hosting accounts/virtual private servers. It is easy. I suggest you to use some content management system. You’ll want to add new content? CMS it’s your friend.

What will that webmaster do if he wants some visitors? It isn’t enough to submit your website to all major search engines and wait. Your website will be dead before to born. So I’d like to share a few things with you, my dear newbie webmaster:

  1. Try to create new features, eventually a new tool, an awesome design to your website to stimulate other webmasters to link to you.
  2. Submit your website to a couple hundreds of free web directories. If you have money to invest you can submit your website to strongest web directories.
  3. Submit a press release to create a buzz, to let people find out that you exist. A good website is prweb.com
  4. Get you web site reviewed by other webmasters. Bloggers do a nice job.
  5. Write a few articles then submit them to the best article directories. Don’t forget to create a back link to your site from within the article’s content. Use your main keyword other related keywords.

Quality backlinks

Do these five steps in about 6 months. You should know that Google can penalize you if “smells” that your back links number is growing too fast. After you finish these jobs you can use your imagination to archive more and more links.

A good example is SeoMoz’s page strength tool. They “won” huge amount of back links with that tool. Also another important factor is to have unique content. If you plan to do just a copy/paste job, you are wasting your time. Google hates duplicate content. The reason? You have to come with fresh information.

You have to have patience. If you do a good job in 2-3 years may earn a lot of money from your online existence. Of course, don’t forget to do some sports. :)

These being said I wish you all the luck.

Oh… and don’t hurry.
